The law firm of Sweet & Maier, S.C., is comprised of dedicated attorneys who have many years of experience, skillfully serving clients in Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. We provide clients with the knowledge and quality representation of a large firm while providing the personalized care and cost-conscious approach of a small town firm.

Our attorneys’ professional achievements have been consistently recognized by their peers as Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Martindale-Hubbell AV ratings and Fellows of the Wisconsin Bar Association.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.

Best Lawyers in America is an honor based on rigorous peer review. Corporate Counsel Magazine has called Best Lawyers “the oldest and most highly respected referral guide to the legal profession worldwide.” A listing in Best Lawyers is widely regarded by both clients and legal professionals. For three decades, Best Lawyers lists have earned the respect of the profession, the media, and the public, as the most reliable, unbiased source of legal referrals anywhere.

Our attorneys also have received Martindale-Hubbell AV ratings, the highest possible rating, based on legal ability and general ethical standards. The Martindale-Hubbell peer review ratings are an objective indicator of a lawyer’s high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations of lawyers, by other members of the bar, and the judiciary, in the United States and Canada. The first review to establish a lawyer’s rating usually occurs three years after his/her first admission to the bar.

John L. Maier, Jr. is also a Fellow of the Wisconsin Bar Association. Membership in The Fellows is considered a professional honor and evidence of professional distinction. The Fellows organization was created in 1999 as a special means to honor members of the State Bar of Wisconsin who have both achieved significant accomplishments in their career and contributed leadership and service to their communities. In addition to this recognition, The Fellows aims to energize its members to continue their efforts in the promotion of justice, advancement of the profession, and improvement of legal education. Total Fellows membership is limited to 2.5% of the membership of the State Bar.
